A downloadable NanoRush for Windows and macOS

NanoRush

Create your Spark. Collect NanoBytes. Blow Stuff Up. Unlock Doors. Find Secrets. Whatever you do… DON’T DIE!

NanoRush is a handcrafted sci-fi puzzle adventure where every move matters.

Recover hidden NanoBytes, trigger satisfying chain reactions, outsmart dangerous enemies, and solve interconnected puzzles as you explore a mysterious research facility.

Unlike traditional tile-based games, every mechanic and every interaction runs on a deterministic cell-based simulation. Explosions, moving objects, enemies, doors, floor panels, and environmental hazards all follow the same underlying rules, creating puzzles that reward experimentation and logical thinking.

As you progress you’ll discover new mechanics, uncover hidden secret areas, and unlock new features in the HeadQuarters between missions.

Features

  • Handcrafted puzzle levels
  • Deterministic cell-based gameplay
  • Chain-reaction explosions
  • Searchlights and patrolling DriftBots
  • Doors, floor panels and terminals
  • Hidden secret areas to discover
  • Collect NanoBytes to unlock progression
  • Sci-fi atmosphere with original mechanics

Controls

  • Arrow Keys — Move
  • Space + Arrow Key — Use terminals or remove collectables
  • D — Plant a Red Core Charge
  • ESC — Self-destruct if you become stuck

Demo

This is an early demo build including 5 levels.

I’m looking for feedback on:

  • Is anything confusing?
  • Are the puzzles enjoyable?
  • Did you encounter any bugs?
  • Did anything feel unfair or frustrating?
  • Which mechanics did you enjoy the most?

Every comment helps improve NanoRush.

Thanks for playing!

Okay, some feedback

1) Opening menu is rather tedious, why force the player to manually move around to everything instead of just, ya know, clicking on things normally?
If the opening menu is meant to go to later levels, start with a normal menu then you go into the hub world, not all in one.
2) Music seems really soft/quiet without having to really turn up volume, might want adjust that; also seems the quit and settings options don't work at all or so I think.

3) The self-destruct key being 'esc' is needlessly awkward and too fary away from other controls. I'd recommned moving closer but not too close/allowing key rebinding for everything, please.

4) Having to press spacebar PLUS an arrow key to interact with things is also needlessly tedious imo, really should just be one press needed.
5) It is not explained/I sort of don't get how/when the red balls drop on you and exlode, thus killing you.
6) controls should be also in the game itself, not just in the readme of the files/game page.

7) controller support, maybe? feels like a game meant for that.

8) And my biggest thing of all, at least for me, literally nothing about this game feels intuitive. Like, I love how cool it is, how smoothly it moves, but I am literally understanding nothing since literally nothing is explaind, haven't even beaten the first level yet as of typing out this feedback.

(also consider YouTube for trailer stuff too?)

Hey there, thank you for your amazing feedback Rewan!

Let me answer your points of feedback;

1) I understand it can be quite confusing to have the Headquarters as menu, especially if there's no explanation or whatsoever. I do believe in this 'different way' of navigation through the game and its menu/configuration. In the next update I've added a lot more guidance! You won't be alone in the Headquarters anymore!

2) De audio 'softness'... First of all, there's no music in the game, only game sounds (ambient, etc..). Music will come later same as audio configuration in settings.

3) Key-binding is also on the list! same as controller support. Self-destruct should definitely

not be too close to other functionality, therefor I chose "ESC", but later on it will be bindable.

4) Having to press spacebar PLUS an arrow key to interact... This is on purpose, since spacebar plus arrow key has a lot more functionality then you might have noticed... you can for example collect something around you holding spacebar + arrow key without moving into that cell..

6) controls should be also in the game itself, and it will be in the next update!

7) controller support is also on the list!

8) I'm super happy you like the visuals and overall mechanical feel of the game. In the next update the first level will be a tutorial level which will explain everything you need to know (hopefully) ;-).

Posting more videos is also what I'm thinking of, but I'm still in early development stage ;-).

Again, thank you so much for your feedback, it really helps!!

And of course... Thank you for playing!
